On Saturday, August 12th, I will host the second Five Element Sync. I’ll share some qigong exercises, meditations, and tons of helpful information to help you stay in tune with the natural cycle of the five elements. We’re already shifting into the “Fifth Season” of the Earth Element. This period of late Summer is also called, “Yellow Summer,” (yellow is the healing color of the Earth Element).
The Earth Element is the time of the harvest, when you get together and share in the fruit of your labors in community. This is a season to gather with friends and family and sink deep into gratitude for your most treasured relationships. When you are balanced in your Earth Element, you feel a strong connection in community and a tangible sense of the value you provide and the gifts you offer. You also communicate your appreciation and give recognition to others for the special gifts they possess which they share with you. Most importantly, you have a deep concern for others and sincerely wish them happiness and well-being.
Like the other elements, imbalances occur in the Earth Element when it grows either deficient or excessive. With a deficient Earth Element, you experience worry, you over-think things, and you suffer physical stresses that correlate with your negative emotions and thoughts. When the Earth Element is in excess, you concern yourself too much with what others think – not recognizing (or forgetting) the inherent gifts you share and the value you provide to others.
I’ll go into a deep-dive with the Earth Element in our next Sync and share some practical tools you can use to stay in balance and enjoy the unique spirit of this season. Before we deep-dive into the Earth Element, we’ve still got to pay mind to the Fire Element to maintain balance in the Summer Season. Now that we’re in the thick of Summer it’s more important than ever to balance Fire with it’s checking element, Water. I want to share two videos with you in this post. These movements will help you purge excess fire energy and nourish the Water Element. These are also great preparation before practicing the qigong form for the Fire Element, which I will be sending out to my email list on August 7th.
The Fifth Brocade, “The Deer Wags its Tail”
This exercise stimulates the Water Element meridians in the legs and opens energy flow through your hips, lower-back, and lower-abdomen. It also helps purge excess fire energy, so make sure to pay attention to the breathing.
The Sixth Brocade, “Looking up to the Sky”

My intention in holding the monthly Five Element Sync is to provide you with tools for Mastery, Vision, and Freedom. Educating and harmonizing yourself with the natural cycle of the five elements provides a tried and true way to master your physical, emotional, and spiritual energy – to live your life the way you intend; and to discover and persevere in the vision of your highest self. Developing mastery and following your vision foster the experience of true freedom that we are all meant to attain.
